My Tubbie dream isn't rocket science, brain surgery or a cure for Cancer, but it has been a discovery of myself.
If you are reading this, we probably have at least one thing in common - The love of ice cream.
Real ice cream lovers don't only enjoy ice cream when it's hot, we are loyal cone lickers, and tub eaters (no need to mentions bowl fillers any more as that is not how you eat ice cream), regardless of the season or weather outside.
We never say "Ohh no, it's too cold for ice cream".
I did find however, eating ice cream in the cooler months was somewhat more of a challenge as it was too cold to hold the tub of yumminess. My hands and my fingers would freeze and condensation would mockingly run down my arm. It never occurred to me to grab a tea towel or use my jumper sleeve - no, I had to invent The Tubbie!
The very first version of The Tubbie was called "The Sitll Cooler". As in "How is your ice cream?" "It's Still Cooler and hasn't melted yet." There was no fluff, just a thin, ugly fluorescent holder that fitted a 500 ml/pint tub of ice cream.
At the time I was living on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia and I was in my early 20's.
I had no business skills, I had left school at 15 and I just plodded along in life doing what I though made me happy.

On with the next chapter of my life. I was living in Hervey Bay, Queensland. I had my Still Cooler prototype and some belief that what I had was a winning idea.
I called some neoprene, stubbie cooler manufacturers and being the savvy business gal I was, by the time I had called the 3rd neoprene factory in Queensland, they had a go at me and said I needed to stop calling around to all the different companies asking for pricing. What?? I thought that was what you were supposed to do, call around and get pricing from different companies.
You can appreciate how small the neoprene business was in Australia in the early 90's. I would call the factories and they would call their supplier and the supplier had all the companies I had called go back to them asking for this quote and he must have gotten sick of it. Well, I got quite a shock! How dare he tell me to stop calling around asking for quotes. It all seemed too hard for me. I was working in radio and having fun, so the Sitll Cooler was put on the shelf.
